Adina Howard - "Freak Like Me" (Udachi Remix)

AC Slater - "Party Like Us" (Udachi Remix) <-- rave click

Yin Yang Twins - "Salt Shaker" (KillPhil Remix)

Oh and check out the Aqua for '08:

it would almost be good if it had no lyrics and was pumped through a couple of marshall stacks

Moosecamp Metapost

DO NOT FEAR THE MOOSE
(X-posted from 4thercrd.com)

Over the weekend weekend I was lucky enough to attend the Northern Voice blogger conference with some friends of mine and had a wonderful experience sitting in on the various talks given on a wide range of topics from design theory to photography technique, and the value of stretching your artistic horizons, and how this all ties into the internet and blogging.

The Northern Voice conference is sponsored by a number of local internet companies and hosted by gracious volunteers such as: Darren Barefoot, Kris Krug, Brian Lamb, Cyprien Lomas, Boris Mann, Dale McGladdery, Lori Pike, James Sherrett, Travis Smith, Julie Szabo, Roland Tanglao, and Lauren Wood.

Both days were packed with entertaining and informative presentations. Unfortunately I wasn't able to attend all of them, but the events have been fairly well documented, so I don't feel too left out. Of course there will be another one next year, so don't sleep on it!

Northern Voice is one of many tech industry events that go on in Vancouver that support our growing population of professional internet geeks, among whom I count myself a member. Some have accused Vancouver of being a city with no overarching identity, but if great events like this keep popping up then the mantle of 'west coast tech mecca' would be ours to lose.

Northern voice is this weekend, and had the kickoff last night
where I rand into a whole lot of people I hadn't seen in a while
which was quite nice.

Also, Happy birthday Boris!

There's a lot of good shows coming up, I'm trying to integrate
a sweet listings display in the new site design so you can keep
up to date, so hopefully that'll be this weekend.

Twin Crystals is at the Astoria tonight

Shearing Pinx and mutators at the Emergency Room on Saturday

Crystal Castles at Richard's on March 5th.

'cest bon

Had a nice chat with the people at 6S marketing today which was great fun. The people running the place seem like good folk and hopefully we'll get to work together in the future.

The real news today is *GASP* John McCain is in bed with lobbyists!!!

no I mean he literally he used to fuck one.

I had heard rumors about something like this for a while now and cudos to the New York Times for waiting until the most devastating moment to drop this bomb on the republican candidate. I hope they don't start trumpeting non-partisan coverage now though.

So sasha and diggers are coming to town, that's also news.

Black Kids + Cut Copy are coming to town, as is Daniel Johnston. I'll be going to both and so should you.

Black Kids - "I'm Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend How to Dance With You."

Cut Copy - Music and Lights (Moulinex Remix) DOWNLOAD

I'm really fucking excited for Cut Copy. I've got their first release / first pressing on vinyl and I'm thinking of getting them to sign it for me.

Masterblaster Runs Bartertown

The Clic Clic - My Dunks <--- I havent decided if this guy is a loser or just making fun of people who collect old sneakers. It's funny either way. (warning: bad music)

Those who have been paying attention (both of you!) may have noted that I'm not posting a whole lot of electronic hyphy dance music lately. Well there's a reason for that. There hasn't been a whole lot of good stuff coming out. Everyone sort of latched onto the Daft Punk / Justice electro-rave revival and nobody seems to know what to do next.

These things come and go and there's plenty of other great music around so wipe those tears. The sooner you can accept that then the sooner you can actually try ignore hype and enjoy good music for what it is.

Speaking of good music:

Held By Hands - Trading on Past Treasures <- Depressing tune pro-click

"If It's the Beaches" - The Avett Brothers

"In the Night" - Basia Bulat <-- Steve Nicks fan pro-click

Oh, and speaking of dance music, Justice is coming up really soon, and Chromeo announced an April show at the Commodore on the 3rd. Their live shows kill so check it.

Google lies!

So what some of you might not know is that I do SEO for a living. As such I deal a lot with Google / Yahoo / MSN etc and I found something interesting in google webmasters' tools today.

From their tool:
"Googlebot last successfully accessed your home page on Feb 6, 2008."

Deeper within the same tool:
"Last Calculated .... Feb 11, 2008"

Google lies to you! They invite you to parties but it's just to make fun of you, don't fall for it! They spit in the coffee they got for you!

Introducing delegate counter XLS

A guy over at the something awful forums made this awesome excell
doc that you can use at home to track statistics on the US primary race.
Think of it like the home game version of Wheel of Fortune.

As a statistics nerd I heartily approve....

Scotch is awesome / Super Tuesday / Om broke up

I picked up a liter of Talisker 10 year old and it's better than
I remember it.

That being said tomorrow is super tuesday in the states, and if you
don't know what that is than you need to learn.

My favourite band OM broke up, but hopefully tomorrow's results will
make me feel better about it.
